M-POWER Ministries, in partnership with local culinary experts, is proud to present Taste of the Magic City, now in its 6th year. Enjoy tastes from local establishments such as The Abbey, B&A Warehouse, Bamawise, Chris Z’s, East 59 Vintage and Cafe, Happy Catering, Jim N’ Nick’s, Repicci’s Italian Ice, and Tre Luna Catering along with other favorites such as Chick-fil-A and Jack Brown’s.
This year’s event will be held at a location that is a new venue for M-POWER and is relatively new to the area. MAKEbhm is a community space filled with local artisans such as Susan Gordon, maker of small batch pottery. Her amazing work, with detailed, timeless and organic look and feel, will be available for sale at the event.
Adding to the “Taste” theme will be sampling of sounds from some of Birmingham’s finest musicians. More details on this will be announced soon.
Be prepared for an evening where all your senses will be delighted – sight, sound, smell taste, and touch.
Early bird tickets are available from now until October 15 for $29. ($35 beginning October 16 and at the door – if available).
Event proceeds benefit M-POWER Ministries, a 501c-3 based nonprofit organization whose outreach efforts focus on free health clinics, GED and career readiness programs along with literacy assistance.

The Day of the Dead is a joyful, colorful remembrance of lost loved ones, which originated in Mexico centuries ago. Similar to Decoration Day in the southern U.S., the tradition combines flowers, music, food, stories, friends, family and memorials in honor of those who have gone before. The observance Bare Hands presents has become a cherished cultural celebration of life in Birmingham. Many say the gathering has brought them a stronger, broader sense of community. The festival comes to life through countless volunteer hours given to create an experience that respects the tradition and heart of Mexico’s sacred remembrance while recognizing many memorial traditions.
